ZFX Flying Effects     

Flying Director / Production Coordinator | January 2007 – June 2013

• Rigged and choreographed flying effects for over 300 productions, leading professional, amateur and student crews and performers
• Designed unique flying systems when needed, using existing system components to increase the mechanical advantage in order to fly heavier items
• Lead flying system installs and show flying teams for international productions in South Korea, Canada, Guam, China, and the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics
• As Production Coordinator, advanced contracted productions and worked closely with clients to ensure their satisfaction with ZFX services. I coordinated organizational needs, equipment builds and trouble-shooting with all departments, and tracked scheduling of Flying Directors and equipment inventory.

Recently, I noticed that my TBR pile has been growing. Either I’m working on other projects or have gotten new books to distract me, so quite a few have remained in the pile for some time. This gave me the idea to make a TBR app to track all of my To-Be-Read books and how long I’ve left them languishing in the stack – hopefully prompting me to start reading them sooner.

For my Project, I created an app that can retrieve information from the Google Books API and store them in a To Be Read stack on the page. Current books are stored in a JSON file accessible through a Node/Express JS internal API, and populated automatically when the page loads.

Python Cover Letter Checker Project

For this project, I created a terminal run app that can compare a saved job listing to a stored list of popular keywords, and return matches. The user can then scan their cover letter (saved as .txt file) to check for appropriate matches and other frequent cover letter issues. It can also find alternate options for overused words using PyDictionary.

Code Louisville UX Fall/Winter 2020 – View Case Study

Our prompt for thsi project was to take a hobby and imagine an app for that hobby, then perform User Researc and Testing, from Affinity to Journey Mapping. I created my app user flow using Adobe XD, and ran several User Testing scenarios, using user feedback to iterate and improve on the app idea. I created a Google Slides Case Study presentation to show my findings.
